Kate Bush – Experiment IV (12″)

From 1986 and a 12″ single to promote the compilation album, “Kate Bush – The Whole Story.” This see’s Bush team up with violinist Nigel Kennedy in a track about Military experiments on killing people with sound (?) . Full use of the Fairlight with some rocky guitar by Alan Murphy (session guitarist who had worked with Level 42 and Scritti Politti) and drums by Stuart Elliot (Cockney Rebel and Alan Parsons Project) Backed by a remix of Wuthering Heights, although I prefer the original vocal version. Also the quirky “December Will Be Magic Again” is included , a good alternative for any Christmas play list. Thank God for the weird and wacky Miss Bush!

The video features a host of 80’s actors (Gary Oldman, Dawn French, Hugh Laurie) and was banned for being too violent by the BBC!

(STATIC ALERT – the joys of a (mainly) vinyl blog, Dolby Noise Reduction needed to have been applied to vinyl!)

  1. At the time I thought “oh well, just some throwaway track to pad out a best-of” but it has grown to be an integral part of her catalogue. And the new vocal for Wuthering Heights is worth it in the final (previously) instrumental section – such magical wailing!

    1. Great Post & great track..also there is a video mix which is different to the 12″& 7″.. Its on the ‘other sides’ cd but not listed as the video mix on the track listing.. cheers (I can send it if you want)
