Last bit of synth stuff for a bit. (I’m feeling the need for some post punk / New Wave stuff phase coming on)
Amazingly from 1982 and as a taster for the “I, Assassin” album this is funky Numan. Pino Palladino’s fretless bass keeps the groove over a programmed rhythm track. With lots reference to B-movies in the lyrics the meaning of the song is like a lot of Numan’s stuff unfathomable . It has those roaring synths and keeps that edgy atmosphere throughout, Prince must of been frantically taking notes. As usual with Numan two quality and contrasting B-sides. “War Games” starts off slow but the bass soon kicks in and it really should have been on the original album release. “Glitter And Ash” is a suitably moody instrumental with Pino’s bass duet-ting with some pleasant synths and some unsettling discord (the Ash)
Not sure about the vid, is he being ironic?
