Mike + The Mechanics – Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground) (12″)

From 1985 and and the debut release from Mike Rutherford’s side project written by himself and Scottish legend B.A.Robertson (!) Pop Rock drenched in synths with the Collins-esque vocals of Paul Carrack. From Wiki “The song was banned by the BBC during the Gulf War due to its address of war, nationalism and religion, as well as a direct reference to weaponry in the line, “There’s a gun and ammunition just inside the doorway.” (how things haven’t changed! Actually based on the Sci-Fi film of the same name it was good to revisit again. B-sides is a disappointing, throw away track “I Get The Feeling” think B.A. Robertson (even though he didn’t co-write it!) All synthetic brass and bouncy bouncy, Yuk! The other is a bit more prog, an instrumental called “Too Far Gone,” now where are my Genesis albums?
