Last of the Fiat Lux releases for you. From 1984 and one that most people are familiar with. Very melodic and catchy with that distinct bass-line. It has a sort of Bill Nelson feel to it, probably thanks to Ian Nelson and those sublime saxophones. The 12″ mix is not over long and helps add to the song. B side borrows the bass from Human League’s “Empire State Human” and is more frenetic and experimental. Dramatic vocals and weird sounds, a quality 80’s B-side.
(Supporting the Miner’s Strike, apparently the video took three days to film at a now defunct colliery, various streets and a school in Barnsley, and at Bretton Hall College. Features Gillian Wright…now in Eastenders as Jean Slater. The wonders of Youtube!)
