Leisure Process – A Way You’ll Never Be (12″)

Leisure Process were the duo of Ross Middleton (guitars, vocals) and Gary Barnacle (keyboards, tenor saxophone and electric saxophone) Both were previously from the Scottish band, Positive Noise

This was an early single by Leisure Process (or Leisure Process International as they were first known) produced by Martin Rushent and sounding very like Level 42 due to a guest appearance from Mark King on bass and Phil Gould on drums. More electro funk rather than straight synthpop it has Sparks-style vocals and intense bass. The B-side is your classic Rushent dance mix building it up till the vocals kick in, love those Linn Drums and the way he blends the guitar in. The vocals are very Howard Devoto! A brilliant slice of electronic history from 1982!

  1. Thanks very much. Another 12″ I sold years ago and really enjoyed hearing again. Very much despite Mark King’s bass playing I have to say.

  2. Thanks for sharing! By any chance, would you happen to have their 12″ for “Cashflow” in your collection?

  3. Yup, I’ll dig it out over the weekend πŸ™‚
