Peter Schilling ‎– Major Tom (Coming Home) (7″)

peterschill From 1983 and I actually borrowed this from my mate Si that same year! A Quirky international hit about an accident in space, using Bowie’s Space Oddity character. It is really a kind of tribute and it’s sung in English, the original was in German, where it was a huge hit. Legendary producer, John Luongo, gives it a polished, Synth Rock sheen. The Sci-Fi theme continues on the B-side with “The Noah Plan” , my preferred track. It speeds up and slows down and has a prophetic message, but you would never be able to do Karaoke to it! Both off the album “Error In The System”

A Major Tom (Coming Home) (Edit)
B The Noah Plan

  1. Yes, The Noah Plan gives me shivers even to this day – fantastic song, one of the best from the 80s. Major Tom is not that far behind, though. Could never understand why it missed out in the UK – perhaps Nena were enough? :o)
