From 1983 and the follow-up to “The Last Picture Of You” this dramatic piece of synth pop reminds me of the Associates. Seen as an alternative to your Duran or Spandau along with Swansway (on here) China Crisis (on here) and the Pale Fountains (not yet on here) they had a definite brand of shiny, jangly pop. Here is the elusive “Charleston Mix” which is basically the instrumental tagged on to the single version. The other version, I think is the full album version where the drums don’t com in to halfway through. The hidden gem is the dark, almost gothy “Two Virgins Tender”, including the Spanish guitar!!
