Various – Methods Of Dance Vol 2 (Vinyl album)

ImageWell with vinyl originals you have a lot of work, this was ! And it stills jumps in places! From 1982 and the emergence of synth with mainly Virgin artists on it this was the second of a revolutionary series that put the finger on the pulse in electronic music. So you get American funk, British jazz funk and Teutonic pre industrial spread over 2 sides of vinyl. (There’s even Culture Club on here!!) Okay I’ve tried to clean it up but there are a few jumps. I was impressed by the synthpop of the China Crisis track on here, never knew they went that electronic! The Rip Rig & Panic track is a dubby revelation with a young Neneh Cherry on vocals! Most are exclusive versions and mixes.

  • A1 China Crisis – No Ordinary Lover
  • A2 I-Level – Give Me (American Remix)
  • A3 Rip Rig & Panic – You’re My Kind of Climate (Party Mix)
  • A4 Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft – Kebab Träume
  • B1 The Men – I Don’t Depend On You
  • B2 Simple Minds – Soundtrack for Every Heaven
  • B3 Culture Club – I’m Afraid of Me (Disconet Remix)
  • B4 B.E.F. feat. Billy MacKenzie – The Secret Life of Arabia (Dub Mix)

  1. No! No! Keep on! Even though I rarely take advantage of the music (so much to listen to, so little time) you so kindly share, I like your style of writing. Your good work is always appreciated.

  2. Thanks Luka , your words mean a lot. Blogging is a lonely pastime and when feedback is scarce you tend to get disheartened, people visit and take what they want but a thanks is not a hard to do!

  3. Thank you – just found this site. Great stuff! Much appreciated.

  5. Rip Rig & Panic! Tres chill. I only found out about them because of Head! Impressive stuff.

  6. Only just discovered your blog, but it looks like a keeper…and something a wider audience will revere as time goes on – keep at it !

    1. More than welcome, I’m aiming to be the most eclectic blog on the web. On my third incantation and now actually buy stuff to put up! Thanks again for your comments , I’ll keep the vinyl revolving.

  7. Is there a chance you could share this again? Thanks

    1. Re-upped again after all these years!

      1. Very appreciated 🙂

  8. That B.E.F. Featuring Billy Mackenzie Secret Life of Arabia Dub was forever a rare masterpiece. The Men is Human League (before the split) with a more disco-y track which was a compromise with Virgin who felt they weren’t getting their money’s worth with the releases to date (i.e. no chart positions to brag about or earn back money from). It is also a foreshadowing of the sound/format of HL Mk. 2 – Phil Oakey and two female singers – in this case Katie Kissoon and Lisa Strike.

    1. Thanks for the background info.
